Information and awareness are shared across a large audience through the medium of mass communication. Students take mass communication courses after 12th to develop a variety of skills. It is frequently mistaken for journalism. While journalism falls within the category of mass communication, it is not the only one. Other subfields of mass communication include news reporting, event planning, film directing, public relations, advertising, corporate communication, etc.

After 12th, students that are creative, expressive, and extroverts are best suited for the mass communication course. Students must satisfy the following eligibility requirements in accordance with university rules in order to enroll in various types of mass communication courses after completing their 12th grade:

  • Completed the 10 programs from a recognized educational board with the necessary passing grades.
  • A bachelor's degree from an approved university in a relevant discipline is required for those who want to pursue a master's degree.
  • Obtained the minimum necessary score on an English language proficiency test, such as the PTE, TOEFL, or IELTS.
  • Pass any entrance exam that the university may provide.

What is the duration of the mass communication course after 12th?

Depending on the university, institution, and course specialty, it can take three to five years to earn a mass communication bachelor's degree.

After deciding on the college, one has to undergo Entrance Exams, to be conducted at both State and National levels. Such as UGC NET, CAT, CMAT, LPU NEST, MICAT, etc.

On the basis of Entrance Exams Colleges and Universities Prepares Merit Lists.

However, While Preparing the Merit List, the score obtained by Students in Previous examinations is also taken into consideration by the College before making the final seat allotment.

Some relaxation is also provided to Reserved Category students, in both for admission and for cut-offs.

Ph.D. in Mass Communication is done through common Ph.D. Entrance Exams like UGC NET. After this, a candidate must have to undergo several rounds of Personal Interviews and Group Discussion tests as prescribed in the Terms and conditions of the respective University, College Brochure, and Website.
